Cement truck tips over on Bluebird Canyon, driver injured
The driver of a cement truck suffered minor injuries after the truck fell onto its side on Bluebird Canyon Drive Monday morning, according to Laguna Beach police.
About 1 yard of wet cement spilled onto the road, which was still closed from Santa Cruz Street to Summit Drive for clean-up as of 11:45 a.m., Sgt. Louise Callus wrote in an email.
The truck, carrying 9 yards of wet concrete, tipped over in the 600 block of Bluebird Canyon Drive near the intersection with Summit Drive at 8:41 a.m. Monday, Callus said.
The truck was going uphill when it lost power and slowly rolled backward, Callus said. The truck then tipped onto its side and cement spilled out.
The driver was hospitalized at Mission Hospital Laguna Beach, according to police.
