Dodgeball tourney to benefit schools

SchoolPower, a nonprofit that raises money for Laguna Beach Unified School District campuses, will hold its annual dodgeball tournament Oct. 15 in the Laguna Beach High School gym, according to a news release.

Laguna Beach lifeguards are the two-time defending champions in the adult/high school division; the event also includes elementary age brackets

Besides bragging rights, winners of each division receive $500 to designate to the school program of their choice, including sports teams or clubs.

Thirty-two junior division teams will begin at 3 p.m. while 24 teams in the adult division will start competing at 5:30, the release said.

The public is encouraged to attend the free dodgeball event at the high school, located at 625 Park Ave.
