College representatives will visit Laguna Beach High

Laguna Beach High School’s annual College Roundup, which allows students and their families to explore postsecondary educational options before visiting college campuses, will take place Oct. 23 in the gym, according to a news release.

Attending will be representatives from Glasgow School of Art, Bryn Mawr College, Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Vanderbilt University, the University of Notre Dame, the U.S. Naval Academy and the University of Texas at Austin.

Students and parents will be learn about admission requirements, availability of on-campus housing, areas of study, athletics, scholarships and financial aid during the event, organized by the high school’s Parent Teacher Assn.

The fair runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m., but two breakout sessions will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m., according to the release. One of the sessions will focus on Princeton Review-based test-taking strategies, while the other will concentrate on transferring from community colleges to the UC and Cal State systems.

Representatives from the high school’s Scholarship Foundation will be available to answer questions about financial opportunities for students.

Through donors, the foundation has given more than $3.4 million in scholarships to Laguna students since 2000, the release says.
