Testing available on World AIDS Day
Free HIV testing will be available at Main Beach Sunday in honor of World AIDS Day, according to a Laguna Beach police news release.
Organizers will conduct tests from 2 to 5 p.m. inside tents on the cobblestone area of the beach and results will be available in 20 minutes, the release said.
Members from the city’s HIV Advisory Committee, AIDS Services Foundation, Shanti Orange County and the Laguna Beach Community Clinic will be on hand to provide educational information and anonymous counseling, the release said.
World AIDS Day is an annual day of reflection to honor those who have died of the disease, the release said.
The public is welcome to attend a candlelight vigil at 5 p.m. at Main Beach Sunday.
People who prefer testing at the community clinic, at 362 Third St., can do so from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday; 2:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday; and 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, according to the release.
Appointments are not needed for testing at either Main Beach or the community clinic, the release said.
