Holiday trash pickup delayed 1 day; trees can go, too

Residential and commercial trash collection in Laguna Beach will be delayed one day for customers regularly serviced on Dec. 25 and 26 and Jan. 1 and Jan. 2, according to a news release.

Waste Management will collect and recycle Christmas trees on the scheduled trash pickup days from Dec. 26 through Jan. 16.

Trees must be cut into lengths of less than 4 feet, and all decorations, tinsel and metal stands must be removed.

Flocked trees will be collected though they cannot be made into compost because of their chemical content. After Jan. 16, non-flocked trees can also be recycled by cutting them up and placing the pieces in the green waste carts.
