SPIN receives portion of federal grant
COSTA MESA — Orange County has been awarded $13.7 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help address homelessness, with more than $400,000 going to Costa Mesa-based Serving People in Need (SPIN).
SPIN received $403,208 for 38 beds, supportive services and transitional housing for the homeless.
The money was awarded to Orange County as part of a federal Continuum of Care grant competition given to regional organizations. OC Community Services was named the lead agency for the HUD grant, with money going to 44 programs overall.
