An Iranian American who became the first female tourist to go into space five years ago will appear at a conference in Irvine on Saturday.

Coastline Community College hosts its first Iranian-American Women’s Leadership Conference, which will feature Anousheh Ansari as the guest lecturer. The college in Fountain Valley also has satellite campuses in Costa Mesa, Garden Grove and Westminster.

Ansari was a space tourist aboard a Soyuz mission to the International Space Station in 2006. Ansari plans to speak about pursuing one’s dreams and never giving up.
