Newport company donates $30,000 to Girls Inc.
A Costa Mesa-based nonprofit that assists about 4,000 girls with educational services each year received a $30,000 donation last week.
Girls Inc. of Orange County accepted the funds from Newport Beach-based DPR Construction, its new corporate partner, in a ceremony Wednesday at its Youth and Family Center near Lions Park.
“It may sound cliché, but they’ve made our dreams come true,” Girls Inc. Chief Executive Lucy Santana-Ornelas said in a prepared statement. “DPR’s gift is literally transformational in the sense that it allows us to impact the lives of more Orange County girls who need our help.”
DPR employees will also continue their involvement in Girls Inc.’s Girls Restoring Emerging Environmental Needs (GREEN) Club.
Through its Rebuild America Day, DPR assisted Girls Inc. last year with a makeover of the Youth and Family Center. The effort included new classrooms and expansive repairs, with materials alone totaling more than $100,000, according to a news release.
