Multiple vehicles were broken into and navigation systems were stolen over the weekend in Newport Beach, according to police.

The six incidents occurred in the 3400 block of Via Lido, the 900 block of Newport Center Drive and Hoag Drive between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.

Also stolen was a third row seat from one vehicle, and the steering wheel air bag from another, according to police.

In an effort to prevent the theft of a vehicle’s third seat, police recommend that car owners have the vehicle’s VIN engraved on the seat’s frame, use a bicycle-style lock to secure the seat, park in a well-lit area and back the vehicle against a solid object to make theft more difficult.
