Developer gains permits for Newport Bay Marina
A developer recently obtained building permits for the long-awaited Newport Bay Marina project a large mixed-use development near the Newport Pier.
Etco Homes Inc. plans to build a 36,000-square-foot commercial, retail and residential mixed-use development that would wrap around the Crab Cooker building. City officials granted demolition and building permits at the end of February.
First approved in 2006, the development will replace a collection of dilapidated structures where a World War II shipyard once stood at 2300 Newport Blvd.
Etco has all of its permits except for its shoring permit, according to Community Development Director Kim Brandt.
