New UCI officer sworn in
A UC Irvine graduate will return to patrol his campus now that he’s been sworn in as the newest member of the campus Police Department.
He has a history with the department, interning there while he attended school.
Assistant Chief Jeff Hutchison formally welcomed Matthew Wroblewski on Thursday during a ceremony at the campus’ University Hills Community Center, according to a news release from the department.
Wroblewski studied criminology at UCI, graduating magna cum laude with a minor in psychology and social behavior.
He continued working with UCI police until the department sponsored him through the Orange County Sheriff’s Academy in October.
There he was cited as the top overall academy recruit and received outstanding performance awards in academics, physical training, practical applications and report writing.
Wroblewski is the third recruit the department has sworn in since December.
