Police evacuate Corona del Mar homes

Newport Beach police evacuated three homes in Corona del Mar after a woman called, saying she and a man got into a fight, police said Wednesday.

Police responded at about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of Goldenrod Avenue, according to Newport Beach Police Department spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.

The man refused to leave the home so authorities evacuated residents from three nearby homes as a safety precaution, Lowe said.

Residents were allowed to return about an hour and a half later.

Police entered the home and arrested the man, whose identity has not been released.

Neighbors told Corona del Mar Today they saw a helicopter overhead. That site first reported the arrest.
