Newport-Mesa high schools make national ranking
Newport-Mesa Unified School District’s five comprehensive high schools rated among the nation’s top campuses in a ranking by Newsweek and The Daily Beast, the school district announced Tuesday.
It was the first time each of the five campuses made the list in the same year.
The publications rank the 2,000 high schools that best prepare students for college. The methodology is available on Newsweek and The Daily Beast’s website.
Corona del Mar High School ranked highest among Newport-Mesa’s institutions at No. 200 on the list.
Newport Harbor High School almost broke the top 500, coming in at No. 502.
Early College High School, a specialized campus where students take college-level courses, ranked 1,075.
Costa Mesa and Estancia high schools ranked 1,150 and 1,703, respectively.
“This is not an overnight success,” Newport-Mesa Supt. Fred Navarro said. “I am very proud of the schools and look forward to continued success.”
