Customers should get power back by midnight
About 680 Newport Beach Southern California Edison customers were without power Wednesday, according to a representative from Edison.
A damaged underground cable cut power to residents about 6:08 a.m. Tuesday, said Edison spokeswoman Vanessa McGrady. Power was expected to be restored by midnight Thursday, McGrady said.
Areas affected are between Tribute Court, Placentia Avenue and Columbia Street, McGrady said.
Residents are encouraged to use flashlights instead of candles, and not use “sensitive electronics” such as computers, printers or DVD players.
No outdoor equipment should be used for light or heat, McGrady said.
It was unclear what caused the power outage.
