Balboa Island Parade is Sunday

A costumed crowd on Sunday will take over Balboa Island for the 18th annual Balboa Island Parade.

Beginning at 11 a.m., kids on bikes, dressed-up pets, decorated cars and local bands will hit the streets, most likely in patriotic attire since the theme is “Balboa Island…Spirit of America.”

The bridge to the island closes at 10:30 a.m. so visitors are encouraged to arrive early. The Balboa Island Ferry will be running to and from the peninsula until 2 p.m.
