‘Perfect Storm’ author visits Newport Beach library
A best-selling author and journalist who was embedded with troops in Afghanistan for more than a year will give a guest lecture Wednesday evening at the Newport Beach Central Library.
The Newport Beach Public Library Foundation is hosting a special program featuring Sebastian Junger at 7 p.m. at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave.
Junger is the author of “The Perfect Storm,” “Fire,” “A Death in Belmont” and most recently “WAR,” the product of spending more than a year in Eastern Afghanistan reporting from a soldier’s perspective.
Out of that experience, Junger, with the late photojournalist Tim Hetherington, made the Academy Award-nominated documentary “Restrepo.”
The lecture will be preceded by a wine reception at 6:30 p.m. and followed by a book signing and desserts at 8:15 p.m.
Tickets are $75 for general admission and $60 for Library Foundation members and can be bought at https://www.nbplfoundation.org. Residents can also call (949) 548-2411.
