Land will likely be added to open space
The Irvine Co. is donating a 3.8-acre piece of land to Newport Beach, which the city plans to add to the open space already preserved in Upper Newport Bay.
Wedged between the Park Newport Apartments and Back Bay Drive, the property includes a bluff covered with shrubs. It will be used for “habitat protection and resource conservation,” according to a city staff report.
The City Council will vote on the acquisition Tuesday.
