Water district to celebrate 50 years
The Mesa Consolidated Water District will mark its 50th anniversary on Oct. 13.
The event, being billed as a VIP celebration, is scheduled for 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. at the district’s headquarters, 1965 Placentia Ave., Costa Mesa, according to a flier sent out Monday by district officials. The celebration won’t be open to the public.
On Jan. 1, 1960, the Mesa Consolidated Water District, which was formerly known as the Costa Mesa County Water District, began operations through the consolidation of the city of Costa Mesa’s Water Department, Fairview County Water District, Newport Heights Irrigation District and Newport Mesa County Water District.
Mesa Consolidated now serves 110,000 customers in an 18-square-mile area that covers Costa Mesa, parts of Newport Beach and unincorporated sections of Orange County, including John Wayne Airport.
