Newport man to be honored for service to Jewish community
The Orange County regional office of the American Jewish Committee will present Newport Beach resident Steve Price with the Samuel Gendel Community Service Award at a dinner Sunday for his work as a leader in the local Jewish community.
“Steve is fairly new, … and he’s made a significant impact since we first got to know him, primarily because of his interest in Israel,” said AJC Orange County President Susan Glass. “We appreciate all the help and direction he gives us. He certainly has a wonderful perspective, and he comes from a business environment that’s very helpful.”
Price was president of Newport Beach’s Temple Bat Yahm, a member Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem’s board and a leader of an AJC Orange County task force on Israel.
The father of two and grandfather of five has worked as an executive at various organizations, including the country’s largest arbitration and mediation company JAMS, Supercuts, Citibank, Newsweek and General Foods.
The dinner at Newport’s Fairmont Hotel will feature Emmy Award-winning former news anchor Michele Ruiz as keynote speaker. Ruiz is also a leader of Orange County AJC’s Latino-Jewish coalition.
