Man arrested on suspicion of plotting to kidnap girl
A man accused of molesting a minor was arrested by Costa Mesa police for attempting to have the teenage girl kidnapped, which would have prevented her from testifying against him, police said Thursday.
Jesus Acosta-Inchaorrondo, 58, of Laguna Hills is being held without bail on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime, soliciting criminal acts and attempted kidnapping, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.
A man called police saying Acosta-Inchaorrondo tried to pay him to take the girl — a relative of the suspect — to Mexico. The informant then helped arrange a meeting between Acosta-Inchaorrondo and an undercover detective, police said.
When the detective met with Acosta-Inchaorrondo at a shopping center in Lake Forest, the suspect detailed what he wanted to happen to the girl, including the best place to grab her and a stipulation that she be left on a street in Mexico and threatened not to return, police said.
Police arrested Acosta-Inchaorrondo as he tried to leave the meeting about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Costa Mesa police coordinated a plan with officials from the Orange County district attorney’s office and are working with the victim’s family, her school’s administrators and the school resource officer to ensure her protection, according to police.
Acosta-Inchaorrondo has an immigration hold against him.
