COSTA MESA — Triangle Square’s latest addition, 24 Hour Fitness Super Sport, is slated to open Saturday morning.

Employees will be offering free tours, and guests will be able to try out the club on the first day for free.

The 60,000-square-foot gym is the latest tenant to open at the struggling shopping center as part of property owner Greenlaw Partners’ attempt to bring business back.

“It’s the beginning of the revitalization of Triangle Square,” said Mayor Pro Tem Jim Righeimer. “Basically we’ve structured it as a retail center, but with the restaurants, a sports club, these are the kinds of things we need for families in the community.”

The gym is across the street from another 24 Hour Fitness in the Costa Mesa Courtyards center, but the new one offers more exclusive amenities.

In addition to a pool, dancing studio and cycling room, there’s a basketball court, racquetball court, indoor lap pool, steam room and sauna, towel service and personal viewing screens on some of the workout machines.

Early next year Triangle Square will feature two sit-down restaurants above the gym: Saddle Ranch Chop House and El Corazon de Costa Mesa.

The 24 Hour Fitness Super Sport gym will open at 6 a.m. for regular workouts and tours. Righeimer will be on hand for the 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Non-members will be allowed to sample the gym’s various classes and equipment Saturday.
