Man pleads guilty in daycare robbery
A man accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint at her in-home daycare center in Irvine pleaded guilty Friday, according to a news release from the Orange County district attorney’s office.
Hung Trong Do, 33, of Stanton admitted to assault with a semi-automatic weapon, robbery, burglary, illegal possession of a firearm by a felon and other charges.
He was charged with breaking into the woman’s home through an open garage June 3, 2009, holding a gun to the back of her neck and demanding money.
When Do held the gun to the woman’s neck, she was feeding a child and watching five others between the ages of 3 months and 6 years.
During the robbery, the woman’s husband came home, and Do pointed a gun at and argued with him, according to the release.
Do stole $100 during the robbery.
Do was a third-strike offender and is expected to face 22 years in state prison, the release said.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 15.
