Cindy R. Goodsell-Sims

Cindy R. Goodsell-Sims, born Cynthia Rae Goodsell,
November 21, 1942 in Niles, Michigan. Died April 19, 2012 of complications of multiple heart attacks and strokes.

Graduated Newport Harbor Union High School, Newport Beach, Calif and Orange Coast College. Studied anthropology at the University of Minnesota and Wright State University.
She spoke Mandarin Chinese and Greek, held a DoD small arms qualification and five clearances for special compartmented intelligence. She began at Stonehaven Laboratory as Facility Security Officer, became Deputy Project Manager, and retired as Chief Administrative Officer.
During the Cold War, she made sixteen homes for her family in Alabama, Arizona, California, Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, Washington, Greece, and the Republic of China, where she taught English to Chinese businessmen and women and was the terror of fresh taxicab drivers. This beautiful redhead’s walk down an air stair in high heels and a green jacket at the international airport in San Antonio, Texas, in 1967, is legendary in the Gunroom of HMS Surprise. For this last 29 years, she has made her seventeenth home in Antelope Acres, California, where she died holding hands with her high school sweetheart and husband of fifty years, Gary Sims.

She is survived by Gary, her brother David S. Goodsell, her sister Wendy Goodsell Borack, six nephews, and five grandnieces and grandnephews. She was 69. Beloved.

In lieu of flowers, she would be honored by contributions to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or the Disabled American Veterans.
