Paul Esnard passed away the evening of September 1, 2011, at the age of 86, in Corona Del Mar, California, where he lived for over thirty years. The son of Raoul Paul and Mary Benita Esnard, he was born on November 11, 1925. He is survived by Audrey Jane Hemphill Esnard, his devoted wife of 57 years, their six children, Catherine Leslie Owens (Mark), Allyn Marie Esnard, Dwight Cooper Esnard (Patti), Adrienne Christine Miller- Heckman (Jim), Maureen Elizabeth Gilmer (Jim) and Glendon Barnes Esnard (Robin), as well as eighteen grand children, two great-grandsons, Lachlan Miller and Wyatt Steffen, and his two sisters, Mary Alice Bastian and Suzanne Esnard.
Paul was born in Los Angeles, attended Cathedral Chapel School and Loyola High School. He spent three years in the Army Air Corps as an air transport pilot in World War II and was discharged in March of 1946 with the rank of First Lieutenant. He attended UCLA and Cal Berkeley, eventually graduating from USC. He subsequently graduated from USC Law School. While in graduate school he met Audrey Jane Hemphill, whom he married on May 8, 1954. He served the bulk of his professional career as a Deputy District Attorney with the County of Los Angeles.
He had a great love of snow skiing and bicycling. He and Audrey spent years skiing at Mammoth Mountain and taking many great road trips in Europe and throughout the US. Most recently they visited Rome and Assisi, the birthplace of Saint Francis. Until recent years he enjoyed hunting, with his wife and sons, throughout the Western United States, Canada and Africa. He was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family, his many, many friends, including those from the Beta Theta Pi house at UCLA, from USC and the Starbucks Gang.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 9, at Saint John Vianney Chapel on Balboa Island, Newport Beach. Church attire is requested. A reception will be held immediately following the memorial service at the Newport Beach Yacht Club, 1099 Bayside Drive, Newport Beach.
