Born in Newport Beach, California, Ashley was the first child of Tom and Stancie Foss, making her a third-generation Californian. She, along with her brother Taylor and sister Carrie spent nearly all of her childhood in Orange County. Ashley graduated from Newport Harbor High School and then attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. She then completed the University of Florida, Physician Assistant Master Degree Program where she became a licensed Physician Assistant. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Jewel Greywoode.
On June 10, 2006, Ashley and Jewel were married in Corona del Mar, California. The young couple made their first home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, While in Philadelphia, Ashley became a full time mother, first to Audrey Kate (November 20, 2008) and then to Vivienne Claire (June 22, 2010 ). The family then moved to Minnesota where they spent the last year, while Jewel completed his medical training. The family was set to move back to southern California, where Jewel had taken a medical position.
Ashley was happy that she and her family were finally moving back to California. Having said their goodbyes in Minnesota, they were enjoying a sightseeing road trip on the way home to California. On August 29, 2012, a rear tire blew out in their vehicle, causing a rollover accident. Although there were heroic efforts in trying to save Ashley’s life, she succumbed to her injuries. Ashley was seven months pregnant with a baby girl, Evelyn, who also stepped into eternity with her mother on that fateful day.
Ashley is survived by her beloved husband, Jewel, and her two precious daughters, Audrey and Vivienne; parents, Tom and Stancie Foss; grandmothers, Orlene Foss and Thon Griffith; sister, Carrie Dunn, brother-in-law Simon and niece, Lucy; brother, Taylor Foss, sister-in-law Leslie and nephews, Calvin and Lincoln; father and mother in-law, Emile and Eileen Greywoode; sisters-in-law Beryl, Ruby, Emerald, and brother-in-law Jacinth.
A memorial service celebrating Ashley’s life will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM; St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Newport Beach, California.
