Jonathan Michael Jarvis
Jonathan Michael Jarvis, died June 24, 2013. He was born August 22, 1948 in Los Angeles, CA to Marilyn Schlueter and Al Jarvis. He grew up in Beverly Hills, enjoying the celebrity of their father who was known as the first radio disc jockey and originator of The Make Believe Ballroom. Jon attended Corona Del Mar High School as well as The Principia School. Following high school, Jon graduated from Principia College and also studied abroad at Aix en Provence.
Following his graduation, Jon lived in Newport Beach for the remainder of his life. He was active in real estate throughout his career, joking about his start selling residential real estate from his Ford Falcon. He presently was involved as a successful commercial real estate investor. He was a member of the Newport Beach Tennis Club for many years and then gave up tennis to enjoy the challenge of losing golf balls. He was an avid golfer and was proud to have accomplished the rare feat of a hole in one while playing in Hawaii. He had a lifelong love of the ocean and boating and was often spotted body-surfing the Wedge. He and his family enjoyed traveling throughout world. He was very proud of his two children and their accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife, Holly (Gatehouse), whom he married in 1984, his son, James Christopher and daughter, Jennifer Leigh, as well as his half brother Elliott Michael, and his half brother, Jerry. He was preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey Michael, and his parents, Al and Marilyn Jarvis.
Services to be held Tuesday, July 2nd at First Church of Christ, Scientist Newport Beach at 11:00 a.m. at 3303 Via Lido, Newport Beach. Donations in lieu of flowers to The Principia, Elsah IL or the Mother Church in Boston, MA, or The Humane Society.
