OC Throwdown puts athletes to the test

Athletes from around the world converged in Costa Mesa on Friday for the opener of the sixth annual OC Throwdown, a contest that continues Saturday and Sunday at the OC Fair & Event Center.

Competitors test their strength, stamina and will for cash prizes in events including handstand walks, hurdle jumps, sprints and rope climbing.

The competition will continue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the event center, 88 Fair Drive. Admission is $20.
