Police: Man dies after jump from bridge
A man died Thursday after jumping at least 20 feet from a bridge into a flood control channel in Costa Mesa, police said.
Police did not identify the man but said he jumped into the channel from Baker Street, just east of Bristol Street, about 7:30 a.m.
Paramedics took him to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. He was initially listed in stable condition but died later in the day, Lt. Bryan Glass said.
Police don’t know if the man was trying to commit suicide, Glass said, but he plunged from the railing of his own accord.
The coroner’s officer had not identified the man or released a time or cause of death Thursday afternoon.
