Festival of kimonos, colors celebrated at Irvine Valley College
The traditional art of kimono dressing was on display Sunday afternoon at the Irvine Valley College Performing Arts Center during the Japanese Kimono Festival & Benefit Fund Drive.
Guests could watch performers from Nihon Waso Gakuen, a kimono dressing academy based in Osaka, Japan, and participate in a silent auction. Proceeds from ticket sales and the auction will be used to help victims of the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami, along with community projects supported by the Rotary Club of Irvine.
