Newport Sea Base celebrates 78th year
The Newport Sea Base welcomed the new boating season and its 78th year of service in Newport Beach with boat tours, games, crafts and food Saturday morning.
Each year, more than 3,000 girls and boys are taught environmental science, first aid, boating safety, dinghy and keelboat sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, kayaking and other aquatic subjects at the Sea Base at 1931 W. Coast Hwy.
“The Newport Sea Base is a highly unique facility in that it provides one of the widest arrays of maritime activities for youth,” said Executive Director Tom Hartmann.
