Ensign cheer team takes top prize

A cheer team from Ensign Intermediate School in Newport Beach placed first in its division at a competition Sunday, beating out other junior high school-level teams to take the top prize.

The Sharp International cheer competition was hosted at Estancia High School in Costa Mesa. Coaches Amanda Pabon and Kris Higman led the Ensign squad.
