OCC grads get their certificates
More than 2,500 students earned associate degrees and certificates from Orange Coast College during the school’s 66th commencement ceremony Wednesday evening.
The college will award 1,497 students with associate in arts degrees and 652 students will earn associate in science degrees.
Certificates of Completion for the college’s certificated programs will be presented to 559 students.
This year’s OCC graduates represent 130 cities in California with the majority of graduates hailing from Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, Westminster, Fountain Valley and Irvine.
Gustavo Arellano, editor of OC Weekly, was also inducted into the college’s Alumni Hall of Fame during the ceremony. Arellano, who pens the “Ask a Mexican” column for OC Weekly and other newspapers across the United States, attended OCC from 1997 to 1999.
