Students serenade picnic attendees

Newport Harbor High School students serenaded attendees Friday evening during the school’s third annual Jazz Picnic Under the Bell Tower.

Organizers estimated about 250 residents came to the outdoor concert to hear the NHHS Midshipmen Jazz Band and Bones West.

Everyone from toddlers to retirees munched on dishes from gourmet food trucks while they listened to the music, organizers said.

Any proceeds from the event’s raffles, cake auctions and $10 fee for premium seating benefited the Newport Harbor Music Education Foundation.
