Singers go for their shot at karaoke gold

The first of four qualifying rounds for the 2015 KaraokeFest Crème de la Kids and Crème de la Tributes contests were held Saturday at the Orange County Market Place at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa.

Crème de la Kids is open to singers 17 and younger. Crème de la Tributes is for musical impersonators or tribute artists.

Five performers from each contest are selected in each qualifying event to compete at KaraokeFest in September at the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona.

Qualifying for both contests continues the next three Saturdays at the Market Place, 88 Fair Drive. Crème de la Kids begins at 11 a.m., with registration from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Creme de la Tributes begins at 1 p.m., with sign-ups from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration costs $5.
