Deputy to temporarily lead Fire Department
A deputy chief is being tapped to temporarily lead the Costa Mesa Fire Department until a permanent chief is hired.
Effective June 29, Fred Seguin will be the next interim chief.
Seguin replaces another interim fire chief, Tom Arnold. The 30-year fire service veteran and longtime Costa Mesa resident took the post in October 2011 and headed a cost-saving reorganization effort for the department.
Arnold’s last day is June 28.
Meanwhile, the city continues to accept applications for the fire chief position until July 12.
Seguin said Tuesday that he is not a candidate for the permanent job. Arnold also isn’t a candidate.
