Baby piggies are stars at the OC Fair
Children standing on their tippy-toes huddled around the fence to see the latest stars of the OC Fair’s Centennial Farm — the pink, wispy-haired baby pigs.
Their mother, Truffles, gave birth to her seven infants just three days before opening day of the fair. The Yorkshire Mix pigs were born in the same pen they currently reside in at the fair.
“So far, they’re the most popular part of the farm,” OC Fair Farm and Garden Coordinator Adam Waugh said.
Fairgoers Wednesday afternoon found Truffles in a peaceful slumber as her little piggies trotted and cried “Wee wee wee!” all over their home. Or oinked, rather.
Since the day of their birth, the babes have already grown twice in size, according to Waugh.
Truffles’ babies, four girls and three boys, feed every half hour. What do they eat so far? They’re nourished only by their mother’s milk.
While the week-old piglets have all the food and attention they could possibly need thus far, they are still missing one thing — names.
Waugh says, “If anyone has any ideas, please… Name ‘em!”
