Two hurt in Harbor Boulevard collision
Two women were injured Tuesday after their vehicles collided in Costa Mesa, according to police Lt. Greg Scott.
A white Ford Explorer SUV reportedly broadsided an Infiniti G35 sedan at Harbor Boulevard and Sunflower Avenue at 7:43 a.m., Scott said.
Authorities said the SUV was traveling east on Sunflower and collided with the sedan as it proceeded north on Harbor through the intersection as the traffic signal turned green.
Witnesses told police that the Infiniti did not “enter the intersection prematurely,” Scott said.
The SUV’s driver, a 58-year-old from Huntington Beach, was transported to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital & Medical Center. She was cited for a red-light violation, Scott said.
The sedan’s driver, a 51-year-old from Newport Beach, was transported to Hoag Hospital.
Both complained of neck and back injuries, Scott said.
