Elvis is still king at annual tribute festival in Costa Mesa
The king of rock ‘n’ roll was back on the throne Sunday — so much so that there weren’t enough crowns to go around.
The 16th annual Elvis Festival brought six hours of tributes to legendary singer Elvis Presley to the Orange County Market Place at Costa Mesa’s OC Fair & Event Center.
The event, held each year near the anniversary of Presley’s death on Aug. 16, 1977, presented three stages of tribute artists singing his songs in full Elvis regalia. In addition, contests for lip-syncers and karaoke singers were held.
The festival also celebrated Presley’s favorite cars — Cadillacs in particular — and foods, including peanut butter and bacon.
