Police: ‘Personal space’ argument leads to injury, arrest
A man was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of kicking and robbing a woman in her 70s after a disagreement about “personal space issues,” Newport Beach police said.
The woman and 52-year-old man apparently began arguing while waiting at a transportation center in the 1500 block of Avocado Avenue, police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said.
The argument escalated when the man allegedly kicked the woman in the leg and took a bag containing her credit cards, cash and identification.
Officers found a man nearby who matched the suspect’s description and arrested him, Manzella said.
Louis Enrique Yebra of Fontana was booked on suspicion of strong-arm robbery, assault and elder abuse, Manzella said.
According to online records, he’s being held in Orange County Jail on $85,000 bail.
The woman suffered a significant cut to her leg and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Manzella said.
