Newport Beach officer hurt in crash involving police car
A Newport Beach police officer injured in a traffic crash Saturday evening involving a police car has been released from a hospital, according to the Police Department.
The officer, who was on duty in a marked vehicle, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Hoag Hospital for treatment before being released, police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said
The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Coast Highway and Tustin Avenue, Manzella said.
Circumstances of the crash are unclear. The California Highway Patrol is investigating, but a spokesman did not immediately respond to questions.
