Marijuana, guns, money seized in DEA raid at Costa Mesa home

Federal agents seized drugs, guns and cash Wednesday morning when they raided a Costa Mesa home that authorities say was being used for an indoor marijuana-growing operation.

Neighbors said a team of Drug Enforcement Administration agents with guns drawn descended on a house in the 1900 block of Continental Avenue between 7 and 8 a.m. and spent the next few hours removing boxes and other items.

No one was arrested during the search, DEA spokesman Tim Massino said. Agents seized a shotgun, a pistol, a small amount of cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales, and a small amount of marijuana, he said.

Massino said some of the marijuana was packed for sale and the rest consisted of plants.

The search was part of a broader federal probe, Massino said, but he declined to provide more details.

Neighbors said the house was rented to several men who have lived there at least a couple of years.
