Harbor pep squad wins honors

The Newport Harbor High School Pep Squad took top honors in three categories at the SHARP International Competition on Saturday at Costa Mesa High School.

The Song and Baton teams placed first in their divisions and received the overall Showmanship Award. The Cheer Team won the Overall Grand Champions of the day.

In the individual events, the stunt team of Kendall Burnand, Kaylinn Muran, Chelsea Baker, Samantha Ihle and Jennifer Franco placed first in the stunt-off.

Brooke Gray placed first in the toe-touch competition for Cheer. Kendall Burnand placed first in the tumble-off competition. Matilda Higman placed first in the trick-off competition for Baton. London Davis won the kick competition. Ocean Aragon placed first in the toe-touch and turn competitions.
