Biz News: Several area hotels earn 4 and 5 Diamonds from AAA
The Montage Laguna Beach resort and the Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast earned AAA Five Diamond awards for 2018 for top marks in appearance, amenities and service standards.
Newport Beach’s Lido House hotel, which opened in April, received a Four Diamond award in its first year of business.
The Ranch at Laguna Beach resort earned a Four Diamond award for the first time.
Other area Four Diamond winners include Costa Mesa’s Portfolio Hotel and Avenue of the Arts hotel, Huntington Beach’s Waterfront Beach Resort and Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa, Newport’s Balboa Bay Resort and Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel and Laguna’s Surf & Sand Resort.
AAA awards are based on reviews from field representatives who inspect building exteriors, grounds, rooms and bathrooms, decor, ambiance, amenities, housekeeping, maintenance, management, staff and guest services.
Surf City hotel to host dog-centric events
Paséa Hotel & Spa in Huntington Beach will host a series of dog-centric events Feb. 8-10.
They include Paséa Paws for a Cause from 3 to 6 p.m. Feb. 9, which includes a dog fashion show and a showcase of canine fashion and service brands, with some proceeds being donated to the Waggin’ Trails Rescue Foundation.

Canada’s RYU opens athletic clothing store in Newport Beach
RYU Apparel Inc., a Canadian urban athletic clothing company, recently opened its ninth store at Newport Beach’s Fashion Island.
RYU stands for “Respect your universe.”
“We are proud to be part of the Orange County community in one of the most important malls of North America,” RYU Chief Executive Marcello Leone said in a statement. “Having been embraced in such an exclusive environment is humbling and a further validation of the acceptance of our brand and innovation in the athletic sector.”
ADP opens Costa Mesa office
ADP, a New Jersey-based human-resources, payroll and tax services company, has opened an office in Costa Mesa in the Met complex off Anton Boulevard.
ADP employees there will focus on Wisely by ADP and “future of pay” programs, which seek to help people manage, budget and save their take-home pay, according to a news release.
Canadian pension group invests in Newport-based Alliant
Newport Beach-based Alliant Insurance Services Inc. announced that the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) is making an investment in Alliant.
PSP is a Canadian pension investment manager.
Terms of the deal were not announced.
Alliant’s services include workers’ compensation, employee benefits and financial products.
