Biz News: Oscar-winning filmmaker helping Chipotle with new ad series

Chipotle is teaming with Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Errol Morris to make a series of ads dubbed “Behind the Foil,” showcasing the Newport Beach-based Mexican food chain’s fresh ingredients, according to an Associated Press report.

The ads, featuring employees and farmers, are part of a “transparency trend” for a market that wants simpler, cleaner ingredients labels, according to the report.

Morris’ credits include “The Thin Blue Line” and “Standard Operating Procedure.”

New restaurant coming to CdM

A new restaurant called CdM is scheduled to open in March to replace the Crow Bar & Kitchen at 2325 E. Coast Hwy. in Corona del Mar.

CdM, which takes its name from the Newport Beach neighborhood’s abbreviation, is run by Joseph “McG” Nichol and Jordan Otterbein, who also operate A Restaurant and A Market in Newport. McG also is a Hollywood producer and director.

The restaurant, described as “creative American,” will include a speakeasy-style bar.

Studio at Montage Laguna Beach was one of four Orange County restaurants to earn a AAA Four Diamond rating recently.

The ratings, which go as high as five diamonds, signify a high level of fine dining in an upscale ambiance.

Bixby Land Co. names new CEO

Aaron Hill has been named chief executive and president of Bixby Land Co., a Newport Beach-based commercial real estate owner, operator and investment manager.

Hill has served as president since January 2018 and has been with the company 13 years.

“We are excited to have Aaron at the helm of Bixby Land Co. as CEO and president,” said board Chairman David Kibbee. “Over the past year he has positioned Bixby Land Co. to advance to the next level of the company’s long-term growth strategy.”
