Police said a resident in a bedroom at the student apartment heard noises coming from the living room at about 10 p.m. June 8.

The intruder entered the bedroom and exposed himself to the resident, who chased him out of the apartment and snapped a photo of him before he fled, police said.

The arrest was made in Irvine after community members responded to reports about the incident that included the photo, which was released by UCI police.

The department said it received several calls identifying the man in the photo.
