Baseball’s back for Costa Mesa kids

Spring was in the air — and on the diamond — on Saturday in Costa Mesa as baseball returned with opening day for local Little Leagues.

Costa Mesa American Little League held opening ceremonies at Costa Mesa High School, while Costa Mesa National Little League did the same at TeWinkle Middle School.

Other area youth baseball leagues scheduled to open Saturday were Fountain Valley Little League and the Newport Harbor Baseball Assn. in Newport Beach.
