Collapsed storm drain and sinkhole close residential street in Laguna Beach

A stretch of Ruby Street in Laguna Beach is expected to be closed to most traffic through Tuesday as crews repair a collapsed storm drain and a sinkhole, city officials said Thursday.

The closure, which began at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, affects eastbound Ruby between Ocean Way and South Coast Highway. It isn’t clear what caused the storm drain to collapse or the sinkhole to form.

Residents’ access to homes on Ruby Street will not be affected, according to city officials.
