Renée Elliott Carr May 4, 1936 - April 15, 2013
Renée Elliott Carr died peacefully in her home on April 15, 2013, after a year’s struggle with Melanoma cancer.
Born in Alhambra on 5/04/36, attending Alhambra High School, and receiving her teaching degree from UCLA, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Carr, on April 14, 1962. Renee lived her full 76 years in California.
Renee is survived by her husband of 51 years, their four children; Devin Carr, Kendra Bontz, Brandon Carr and Travis Carr, and ten grandchildren, as well as her brother and sister, Richard Elliott and Lorilee Morrison.
Renee and Bob raised their family of four in the same Newport Beach house that remains their home today. She was a teacher in the community for many years, but also pursued her passion for art through her business, “Visions in Motion.” In retirement, Renee continued her life’s journey down a path of personal reflection and spiritual inquiry. She was actively committed to love and support of family, friends and neighbors, and fostered her own growth with her commitment to her Nonviolent Communication practice group, work with Hospice Outreach, and meditation through the Dzogchen Center of Southern California.
Renee held a strong, inner faith in life. She touched people’s lives with her positive attitude, kindness, and a joyful composure. She was always ready to listen. She cherished her family, and built a legacy of love for her children and grandchildren, and all those who knew her.
The memorial in her honor will be announced. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Renee’s favorite charity, Heifer’s International.
