Obituary
Jean Catherine Ritchie, of Huntington Beach, died peacefully in her sleep and was taken home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2012. The sixth of nine children, she was born on a farm near Annandale, Minnesota, on November 10, 1932 to Emil and Esther Gunnary. She was our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, and a former deacon. She cherished her grandchildren and her large extended family who survive her. Jean enjoyed many deep and loving friendships throughout her life. She is survived by her husband of 58 years. In addition to Dick she is survived by: her sons Steve (Cathryn of Florida), Rick Ritchie (Huntington Beach), daughter Diane Nelson (Rick of Newport Beach)—Grandchildren: Caitlin, Alanna, and Scot Ritchie ( Florida), John Ritchie (Rachael, great-granddaughter Hannah of Kansas), Kristen Nelson (San Francisco), Rick Jr., James and Brooke Nelson (Newport Beach) Also surviving are sisters; Phyllis, Helen, Celia, Jo, Teddy, and brother Wally and their families. A celebration of her life will take place, Friday March 2, at 1:00 pm with reception immediately following at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Newport Beach with The Reverend Leah Stout presiding.
