MILLENNIUM MOMENT

Gwenda Watson has earned a generous collection of awards for her

passionate involvement in community service on behalf of mentally and

physically handicapped children.

She established the South Coast Child Guidance Clinic, acted as a trustee

of the Mardan School of Educational Therapy, held the chairman’s post of

the Council of Volunteer Advisors and was a board member of Youth

Employment Service of the Harbor Area. She also was honored with the

Athena Award by the Newport Harbor Panhellenic for outstanding community

service.

With her husband, Norman E. Watson, former chancellor of the Coast

Community College District, she now enjoys a relaxed life in Newport

Beach. MILLENNIUM MOMENT celebrates the people who made a major

contribution to the Newport-Mesa community this century.
